Efficient UPS and ARPES measurements rely not only on the energy analyzer but also on the excitation source. The Scienta Omicron VUV5000 is a high intensity, narrow bandwidth extreme UV source. It provides radiation con-centrated to He I (21 eV and 23 eV) and He II (41eV). The flux density per unit wavelength interval is comparable to that obtainable from the best undulator beam lines. The photon flux emitted through a 2 mm aperture is about 500 times higher than that from conventional discharge VUV sources.
The excellent stability of the VUV5000 makes it ideal for measurements such as studies of ultrathin films and nanomaterials, requiring extremely high intensity and long measurement times. In addition, the 1 meV bandwidth allows high resolution gas phase and cluster measurements.
